General Comments: This was my first year attending this show, as it had received some bad press in the past. The complaints centered around the parking of the cars and the "squeezing-in" to make room in an area that was too small. This was not the case this year, as the organizers allowed plenty of space between each car so that no one had to worry about spectators possibly scratching their paint with purses, belt buckles or strollers. The registration was via email or regular mail, so that was a snap. Upon arrival I was greeted by one of the staff, given my car identification paper and shown to my spot on the street. The venue is fantastic, as it is a show where the street is closed to traffic, so there are no worries about injury. There was plenty of shade to sit under, lots of restaurant choices and many shops to browse, if you got a little antsy. The show ran from noon until 6:00, so it was nice to get up and get away from the show for a little bit and refresh yourself with something to eat or browse through a shop. The crowds were wonderful and I had a lot of great conversations with a large number of people about my Special Edition TA. It's always great to hear everyone's stories of the TA they once owned or the TA's their friends owned. I especially enjoy the diehards who come over to let me know, that in their opinion, my TA is the best looking car in the show. Although it was a long show, the time went by rather quickly, as the attendance was great and the weather was just a bout a picture perfect as you could ask for. As for the downsides, I think my ratings say it all. The show could use a DJ at the center of the action with some great music and periodic announcements as to what's going on, and the judging could be handled much, much better. Placing a certificate on the windshield, if you have, in someone's opinion, a winning car is just plain cold. The show needs to brush up on it's service to the attendees, especially those of us that make the drive of an hour or so. The "sponsors" were gone prior to the show ending at 6:00 and there wasn't even so much as a thank-you from anyone for coming out and making the show a success. Hopefully, this will be remedied in the future. Soupy - djs@soupy28.com
